A lot of sizing problems started with mass production and vanity sizing.
What is Vanity Sizing???
Vanity sizing is a psychological marketing method labeling a size smaller than it is so that a consumer feels better about herself – but we’ll save that for another day. many companies have changed to vanity sizing to encourage consumers to buy from them – and in such a saturated market it gets vastly more complicated because companies are each doing their own sizing. the United States does not have laws governing sizing standards. So any company can come up with any sizing system they want – that’s another reason we have alpha sizes and numeric 02468, men often use actual body measurements as their sizing designation. Since women’s uses a combination of alpha and numeric, the average women has a range of 5 sizes in their closet – so you could have everything from a medium to a 3X.
The takeaway, unsurprisingly, is that clothing size should have no impact on how you see yourself or your body. Wearing a size four in one garment from your closet shouldn't make you feel any better than you feel wearing a size eight the next day. But the fashion industry has trained us to think this way, when in reality your body hasn’t changed.
My solution? If I find something that fits and feel distressed by the size, I just cut the label off because an arbitrary clothing size should never be in the driver seat of my self-worth.
Please know that when you go shopping and the sizes you “normally” wear don’t fit please remember that it is only 1 sizing system of a million and it is not a reflection of your worth or value as a human being. You are perfect just the way you are.
Meaning any company can create any sizing guide they like.
WHAT size can I get you?” is never a simple question to ask a woman out shopping for new clothes.
The answer is always, it depends. Not on your body but on the sizing system of each brand.

At Kade & Vos, we do not use the term "Plus Size". We feel that calling some sizes "Plus Size" means that these sizes and shapes are somehow different from other sizes.
